Cauliflower Rice Favorites

Cauliflower Rice Favorites

We weren’t the first to get in on the healthy cauliflower trend but once we tried it we were hooked! Cauliflower Rice is a staple in our house. When we first tried it we bought heads of cauliflower and made it ourselves. Then I discovered riced cauliflower in the frozen foods sections of our grocery stores. Game changer. I’m never going back. Not that making it yourself is hard but I love me some frozen steam fresh veggie bags! I love the cauliflower rice and have used it in so many ways. We didn’t have rice that much before, intentionally, but...

Favorite Children’s Books by Age

Favorite Children’s Books by Age

From our couch to yours…some of our favorite books!  (which grew as the kids saw what I was doing) We recently had some new books delivered and my kids were so excited. It warmed my heart so much to see and share in their excitement for the new books as I love, and get excited about, new books myself. As hard as it is to pick favorites, of anything, I want to share some that we’ve loved as not all books elicit the same excitement. INFANT (0-1) There are lots of good night books and sentimental picks for parents and...

Make Your Dreams Come True

I wrote the following a long time ago, like a few years ago. It’s funny reading it now and of course so many out there are just trying to survive, literally. While others may be re-evaluating this or that in their life. But, hey, no time like a pandemic to set new goals and make your dreams come true…question mark? (Ron Burgundy, if you know, you know.) *****************************************************************************************************************************  🎵“The time is now or never,  to make your dreams come true.  You gotta wake up and pay attention.” 🎵 “If you can dream it, you can do it.” “What would you...

Your Health: It Has to Be a Lifestyle

Your Health: It Has to Be a Lifestyle

“Your present circumstances don’t determine where you can go; they merely determine where you start.” – Nido Qubein     We all have our own unique set of circumstances or factors that affect our ability to get, and stay, healthy and fit. We have different responsibilities, schedules, resources, starting points/preexisting conditions, the list goes on. Most importantly, we are all built differently-physically and mentally.   That being said, I have never been a fan of diets or fads. I am not a dietitian nor fitness trainer. I am someone whose weight has fluctuated, who grew up in the era...

Mid Eastern Reading Recommends

[Never Claimed To Be A Photographer] Multiple people have recommended that I read the New York Times Best Seller “Three Cups of Tea” by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin. However, I have to admit I’ve begun with some trepidation and am not very far into Mortenson’s inspirational tale. While the gist of the story sounds interesting, the writing is not to my taste and I find myself criticizing the abundance and frequency of commas and elaborately compound sentences. I would still like to get through it as I’ve heard it is an amazing true story but it may just...

Teen Carrie Love!

Before we get to the really exciting stuff, I want to recommend “Happiness Sold Separately” by Lolly Winston. Great book that explores real and raw emotions as the characters wander through infertility, marriage, temptation, etc. Very good but respectful transition…. I most recently finished reading “The Carrie Diaries” by Candace Bushnell and ohmygosh I absolutely loved it! I figured that any “Sex and the City” fan would be predisposed to like a prequel set in Carrie’s high school years but let me tell you, this would definitely stand alone very well. SATC fans and wannabe writers will love and appreciate...

“The Help” and More

I know it’s been awhile but I’ve been busy. First and foremost I have a huge recommendation for Kathryn Stockett‘s “The Help”. It’s no wonder why book clubs across America are raving about it. “The Help” is one of those precious gems that entertains while educating and enlightening. Stockett switches the narration between three very different but strong female characters. They are of different age, class, and circumstance. The women are also different races, which was the largest barrier between them at the time. However, this is a story of growth and change. They learn to open their eyes and...
